Not on purpose however read below:
Fans who had anticipated a performance by Lil Wayne at the Landmark Theater in Richmond, Virginia today (January 25) left the venue booing and demanding for refunds after the New Orleans rapper pulled a no-show.
As reported earlier, Wayne was arrested in Yuma, Arizona on Tuesday night (January 22) after authorities found 105 grams of marijuana and 29 grams of cocaine and ecstasy in a bus he was traveling in. A .40-caliber pistol registered to the rapper was also found on the bus.
Wayne would be held overnight and was released on Wednesday (January 23) on $10,185 bail.
A bail restriction would prohibit the rapper from leaving the State of Arizona and he was formally charged today (January 25) with felony possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cortez Bryant, Wayne’s manager, told The Richmond Times Dispatch on Thursday that after his client’s court appearance today, the rapper would be leaving Arizona for Richmond via plane at 1pm and would be performing at the Landmark as scheduled.
Wayne was slated to take the stage at 8:35 pm but was no where to be seen by 10 p.m.
The concert’s promoter, Face Jay, told The Richmond Times that Wayne’s private plane was delayed leaving Arizona because of weather and then had to be rerouted while in the air.
Jay expected Wayne to land in Richmond by 10:30 p.m. and head straight to the Landmark for an hour-long concert. He planned to wait for the rapper until 11:30 pm before canceling the concert but by 10:45 p.m., concertgoers were outside the administrative office demanding refunds.
The Landmark was sold out Friday with about 3, 500 people filling the venue.
“I can only play the cards I’m dealt,” Jay told The Richmond Times. “My job was to pack the building, and we did that.”
